An Interview with the Dog Dads of @cavalierpixel

We’re catching up with some of our awesome influencers, covering everything from fun facts people might not know about their favorite celebrity pets, to what it’s like being the parent of a famous pooch and what their favorite things are about ACANA®! First on the list are Chris and Sean, amazing dads to Pixel the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

1. What’s your favorite thing about Pixel?

We have different answers on this one! Daddy Chris loves that every time we sit down, Pixel runs to find her favorite toy to chew and enjoy next to her daddies. The panic on her face when she can’t find her toy right away is the cutest thing. Daddy Sean’s favorite thing about Pixel is that she’s pretty needy and he’s pretty needy, so they’re a perfect match, like opposite ends of a magnet. She always comes to Daddy Sean’s lap and gives him kisses when she senses that he needs a pick me up.

2. What’s Pixel’s favorite ACANA recipe?

Pixel goes NUTS for the freeze-dried patties! But really, Pixel loves all the ACANA food, which was great for us because she is really picky about her meals and treats and it took us a long time to find something that she enjoys and doesn’t get bored of. As her parents, we love the dry kibble because it’s compact and travels well!

3. Does Pixel ever get recognized for her celebrity status?

YES! Pixel’s been recognized several times on the streets of New York City, even by a flight attendant visiting from Hawaii. To share one crazy story, when we were traveling the world with Pixel, we had breakfast at a cute café in Puerto Morelos, Mexico. After finishing, we received a notification from Instagram stating that Pixel had been tagged in a story. When we opened it, it was a video zooming in on Pixel resting underneath the table with the caption, “Spotted! @cavalierpixel”. Which, of course, we loved for her because it was very Gossip Girl and she is definitely an Upper East Side socialite.

4. What’s your favorite thing about ACANA?

We always feel safe giving Pixel any ACANA food product. When we first realized that Pixel’s fame was growing fast, we were hesitant to take any sponsorships. We take very seriously the brands that Pixel sponsors. It’s important to us that we believe in the products that she promotes, that she loves the products that she recommends, and that most importantly, they are safe and healthy. We feel like ACANA cares about Pixel as much as we do. It’s obvious how much care they put into their ingredients and the variety of products that give her a well rounded, interesting diet. As we always say in a Stitch voice, “ACANA means family” — hope that’s not a copyright issue 😉

5. How has the pandemic affected your relationship with Pixel?

Pixel has gotten spoiled by our near constant presence at home, so she’s naturally developed a little bit of separation anxiety. For anyone else who may be experiencing this, here’s some tips! We never make entrances and exits an “event.” When we come home, we wait until Pixel calms down or ask her to sit or stay before giving her attention. When we leave, we don’t shower her with goodbyes. That way, we’re making an unconscious association for her that coming or going is not a big deal. We’ll even jingle the keys without going anywhere so she doesn’t associate the noise with us leaving.
